SMS and MyRedFlare FAQ

Why do I need a SMS password?
Theoretically we can identify you when you send an SMS command to MyRedFlare
by the "User ID" number sent with your message however, as an additional security
measure, we therefore require that you set an SMS
password (which can be as short as 3 characters in length, so as to not be too
inconvenient to include with each message). You are therefore identified by a
combination of your User Id telephone number (sent automatically when you sent
an SMS text message) and your SMS password.
Can I Disarm SARWATCH using someone else's phone?
Yes, but you will have to use the SETNUM command from that phone first, and will have to
remember to use SETNUM again from your phone again later, to return the phone number stored
by MyRedFlare to that of your phone (or do this using the website).
SETNUM changes the mobile phone number stored on your DETAILS page).
Why do SMS messages sometimes take a while to arrive?
Very good question. Unfortunately the behaviour of the telecommunications networks is
beyond our control. MyRedFlare messages can sometimes take some time to be delivered, so
please don't leave it until the last minute to Disarm SARWATCH.
Please let us know if you are finding SMS messages are taking an unacceptably long time to be delivered. Contact Us and give us as much information as possible (country you are in, phone network you are connected to, time of message, message delay time). This information may help us identify and fix specific problems.
Can I change my Trusted Contact details using SMS?
No. You can only make these changes using this website.
How do I check my SMS Credit Balance?
Your balance will be displayed when you log on to this website, and at any time after logging on
by viewing the MY ACCOUNT section. In addition, any SMS message sent to you by MyRedFlare
will include your account balance.
My SMS Credit Balance is Wrong. How do I check?
You can view your "Transaction Record" in the MY ACCOUNT section, which will list
all SMS messages sent by MyRedFlare deducted from your account. It is possible that
you have forgotten about a message that may have been sent, or misunderstood the way MyRedFlare
operates. If this is not the case and you have any specific questions please forward them using our
